The Chinese Cleaver is what this is modeled after. For cleaving vegetables , not breaking bone or other tasks we associate with a Euro/Americana CleaverI came across this interesting old model. A Chinese cleaver made by Gerber. No idea as to when is was produced. But the warning on the back side is kind of interesting for a "cleaver". I guess they're saying it's a "Slicer" not a "Cleaver".

Funny thing is that there are usable Chinese cleavers for $10 in Chinatowns.Cleaver or slicer, the knife looks very cheap and unsafe. The handle will probably fall off after 2 or 3 times of use. Would not pay for more than $10 for it.
It wasn't cheap and it was made in the old days by Gerber in Portland so it was well made. Still think Al probably had a hand in it. He was a cleaver fan and helped me out on an article about them one time many years ago.Cleaver or slicer, the knife looks very cheap and unsafe.
