I know “clones” is another word for counterfeit copying but I’m curious about them. Are they any worse than any other $50 chinese knife? For instance, a $50 senenza clone vs almost any kershaw speed safe, how do they compare?

Some are OK, some are terrible. I've seen a few that are downright dangerous to the user.
Why not just put the $50 towards a made in USA quality product and not support our enemy?

Think about this if they lie, cheat, or steal can you trust that they use the materials they claim to use and can you trust that the workmanship didn't cut corners and create potential use risks. If they did lie about material it was probably priced more in line with the material claimed than the material used in which case you absolutely will have overpaid. Frequently when people acquire clones and test them the case is found that the materials are not as claimed so there is strong history to suggest it will continue to be true. If workmanship is lazy and/or neglectful do you want to trust that the knife won't end up hurting you due to some catastrophic failure.

There is nothing further to be gained by this discussion. Buy what you want, let your conscience be your guide.

We do not support clones, violations of trademarks or other infringements.
