I live in an area that has several restaurants that pride themselfs on serving only locally grown, sustainable food. That's great, I applaud the effort. However, the first thing I do is look at where the silverware and dishes were made. 95% of the time it's china. keep in mind this is in a county that had/has businesses like Lunt Silversmith( out of business ), Lampson & Goodnow and John Russell green river works( long since gone ). It just annoys me that these businesses think of everything to support local industry, but always overlook this portion of the locally grown ideology. It especially annoys me that I am in such a cutlery rich historical location. I understand that everyone is not as cognizant of the cutlery history of the area as I am. I just wish they were supporting these local industries. Thanks for reading my rant.
