I've found that for yard work where green wood needs to get cut, some serration helps minimize the effort required to get through. It also helps to protect the edge on the plain portion of the edge - back and forth in green wood will dull you down pretty quick. If you've ever tried going through electrical cable with a plain edge, you probably spent all of the next day trying to bring the edge back - if it was even possible without a full reconfig.
BUT - If you have any skinning to do, you might find that half and half leaves you without enough unserrated blade to get your work done cleanly without an occasional "bite" from the serrations.
I would (and usually do) go with two knives. Leave the Chinook unserrated, and get something like an Endura or other FRN handled, fully serrated knife to handle the "chainsaw" tasks. Most times, you are better served by either an full serrated edge, or a full plain edge. Half and half often leaves you without enough of either configuration.
