Got my ChinookII combo edge from New Graham and first time unlocking it my hand was to far back,It's own weight of the blade came down on top of my index finger and I still cant stop the bleeding.Hows that for sharp

I'd say that's exactly as sharp as my new Scorpius (also from NewGraham) is. My sharpest knife so far, even sharper than my Military S30V with factory edge.

Congratulations to your Chinook. Did you stop the bleeding by now or are you dead already? :-]

Glad to hear. :-)

I really wouldn't want to be on the receiving side when slashed with a Chinook, Military or any other "big" Spyderco. If hit at your hands, blades like these can easily chop off entire fingers in one strike. *yuck* :barf:

hi cobrafortyfive, so... its your advantage... now you can tell: "I have experiences at own skin, how these knives are sharp"

Glad to hear that you're doing okay after that cut....I bet that those bandaids from New Graham came in handy. ;)

Spydies are usually this sharp when they are NIB, especially the VG10 PlainEdge blades. However, when I got my S30V Military PE, this steel quickly became my favorite due to the EXTREME sharpness that it can take. The Chinook II is definitely on my wish list for this year since it also has that wonderful S30V blade too.

Just be careful when handling Spydies, cuts will happen...I know from experience. ;)

You all are really tempting me to go ahead and order one...

Still waiting for mine. This seems to be a high demand item.

Guess something on this knife was done right.:)

Same here. Phone Spyderco and they said they are all out. Hope they get some really soon.

That is funny about the band aids they send,I had just put the magnet on the fridge before the cut,If I have to reach for a knife when the chips are down,This is the one. This thing is relentless and stay away from the business end of it.

Welcome to the forum, Cobra45!

Your screen name is an amalgamation of my favorite and third favorite brands of malt liquor (though your reference might be to a firearm).

Sorry to see one of your first posts being a self-inflicted war story.

But a fridge full of bandage magnets and a collection full of Spydies means life is good.

Your right Thom,Colt.45 1911,With Cobra on ivory now sits on the night stand with a new friend The"Chinook II"

I love those little NGK bandaid magnets. I haven't needed one yet, but who knows. There's 4 of em on my refridgerator now, 2 on the side of my medicine cabinet in the bathroom, and I gave at least 2 away to friends, who have since ordered from NGK and have a couple magnets of their own.
Just to keep this on Spyderco topic, yeah, those babies are sharp from the factory. My Delica amazed me at first. I'm thinking about a millie. A blade that big, and that sharp without me having to do it myself! OHHH, the brown truck just pulled up, gotta go!

This sucker will cut you just by looking at it!

Sounds like Spyderco really has their sharpening down pat.

My Gunting bit me hard the first hour I had her... I just slipped forward past the guard slightly, brushed the blade -- and >blam<, a 2mm deep cut. Couldn't stop the bleeding for a while.

Spydercos have got to be the sharpest knives I've ever seen. They start to rival my Marlowe, and with the right grind, my Japanese carbon kitchen knives... those, now, are truly frighteningly sharp.

Good job, Sal!

When I have to dull down the blade a hair in fear of it, you guys have done your job right. :)

Lavan,

I dunno... I find that the Gunting has inadequate front guard. Bram himself finds it more than sufficient; I slipped forward on it while just playing with the thing.

So I wasn't holding it with a death grip, but I like knives with enough guard that I can hang them, butt-down, from the guard on my index.

I figure, I slipped forward once, I can do it again.

I like my knives sharp enough to do their job, not sharp enough that a tiny mistake results in catastrophe. :p
