Chinook II Problem

I recently purchased 8 spyderco knives (4 as gifts for others 4 as gifts for me hehehe tis the spirit of Christmas in me). 7 of them are amazing, however the one knife I was hoping would be perfect, wasn't. Rats The knife I speak of is the Chinook II-Now, I love this knife! It is hands down the best folder I've ever owned. The only two problems I could see with it were that the grind was a bit off (cosmetic i believe?) which doesn't bug me to much I can remedy that if need be. But the blade wiggles and that drives me insaine-Does anyone have any advice or comfort for me? :)
Thanks Very Much
Pat
P.S. Spyderco Knives rule :)

Send it back.

My Chinook II had the most minor cosmetic flaw; most people would not have noticed it even after I pointed it out to them.

Spyderco made it right.

Spare yourself the heartache.
Send it back and in a few weeks you will have a perfect Chinook II to enjoy for the rest of your life.

I didn't buy it directly from their website-does this affect anything? Best way to get in contact with them?
Thanks
Pat

I emailed them right away:) Now the waiting begins! By the way there is a slight bulge in the blade running perpendicular to the edge is this unheard of or common?

Pat

Vertical or lateral bladeplay? Lateral bladeplay can be easily fixed, vertical bladeplay is something for the Spyderco factory.

What kind of bulge?

It appears to be both-the blade moves side to side and forwards/backwards-kind of disturbing-what possible fixes are there? perhaps one would take care of the other? the bulge is symetrical(as in its on both sides)-hard to detect but if you run your fingers along the blade u can feel it poof out slightly on either side(kind of like a speed bump on either side of the blade)

any idea?
thanks
Pat

Sounds like my Manix when I got it. The horizontal play was easy to fix, but I couldn't adjust for the vertical play. Sent it in three weeks ago, but haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully it'll be back soon.

How did you fix the horizontal play? (apparently i've got alot to learn)
I emailed them and they sent me a long list of what was covered i don't think they even read my email because i said that it was brand new never used only 2 days old in my hands and they put alot of emphasis on how they are cutting tools not prying. ::sigh:: prying???? ARG i carry a prybar with me when i want to pry not a nice knife! :)
thanks

Tightened the screws. All of the screws needed tightening on mine, not just the pivot. That took away the horizontal play, and centered the blade.

the screws are very tight so I don't think thats the problem on mine. Something I've noticed is that when u lock the blade not only doe the blade wiggle slightly but the entire back of the knife(the moving part) pushes back when u push the blade back!!!!!!-what causes that? how exactly does this locking mechanism work?
thanks
