I want one. I looked at pictures over and over again, and I think I want this to be my next spyderco. Like the steel, like the shape...everything I read tells me its a good hard note.

On a side not, my friend just brought herself yet another spyderco. She had to have the ATR. It came down to 3 models, but in the end...had to be the ATR. Now she carries 2 spydercos in the waist band of her "Hip huggers" Can't even see them.

Good taste, love the ATR

Mine is underway thru the postal system, hope the grip will be like my manix! looks like a great knife! :D

My Chinook II has replaced all of my other knives.
I feel a little self-conscious about popping it open in my workplace (in fact, I don't do it), but all of its other qualities make it a must carry.

Great knife. I carry mine every day. It is my stay "sharp in case of emergency knife". :) So it see's very little work, but I know it is razor sharp.
I think if I was going to be using it everyday, I would carry a Manix also.

My gripe with it is that when you squeeze down on the handle (in any grip orientation) the blade wobbles a lot because one of my fingers will inevitably push down on the lock.

Like the knife a lot but would be happier with a compression lock on it.

I made the mistake once of opening mine in the workplace. A knife was needed to cut the rope on a box of birthday cake. I'll never do that again...

Reminds me pf the time I pulled a Massad Ayoob w/ a poor man's wave out to open a package. I thought I was alone in my office. Damn near scared my assistant to death :D
Chinooks are not very sheeple friendly either.

I have heard the same from one other very reputable source.
I have to say, though, with all respect, that I cannot duplicate the problem no matter how hard I try.

I have never had mine come unlocked either. Maybe it needs a trip back to Spyderco for a check up. :)

Why should it be more scary then say a Manix? Same size, heft, only different blade type. I don't have a problem taking out my manix in plain public.

Nothing wrong with the lock up.

In certain grip positions one of my fingers just conveniently finds itself pressing the lock ever so slightly.

I've been "rediscovering" mine. I changed the clip to tip up, added a lanyard, and put a zip tie in the hole. Now it opens instantly when I take it out of my pocket. It opens into a reverse grip when I take it out of my left rear pocket. :D
