Chinook III or Superhawk?

Hello all. I am interested in both knives but can only afford one at present so my question to you is, which is the better defensive folder? I realize the Superhawk is more of a specialty knife as far design goes, and so I am leaning more towards the Chinook. Keep in mind I am comfortable with hawkbills and have drilled with the Spyderco Civilian before, but I am gravitating towards the Chinook because quite frankly it just looks solid. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

The Chinook is solid, in every conceivable sense. Built like a tank but still very manageable in hand.

I can't speak to the Superhawk, not having handled one.

Chinook ... designed for SD but has better blade shape for all around EDC use also..

They are basically the same knife, one points up, the other points down. :)

The SuperHawk is a beauty, but a bit too expensive considering I would only use it for SD, and I don't like to specialize that way. I got a Chinook III and liked it so much I got another for backup. GREAT, classic Spyderco.

I think the Superhawk is the ultimate urban/office EDC. The curved tip is ideal for controlling the depth of the cut in boxes and plastic clamshell packages and that same curve allows for extra leverage should it be needed. Again with the curve is that it lets the user cut unsupported materials while drawing them towards the user (such as twist-ties for computers under desks).

What makes the Superhawk more officeworthy than other hawkbills, though, is that its strong and reliable lock is simple and elegant while still being gadgety and the matte carbon fiber is classy. For a few bucks more, the user can order a replacement UKPK/Caly3 pocketclip that have a more subdued, coppery hue and let the handle sit a little deeper in most pockets.

The Chinook III, though, is easier to sharpen and able to perform a wider variety of cuts, so there's always that.
