Chinook or BM806?

Whatcha goin' to use it for?

Chinook = less expensive

806D2 = axis lock

both aren't axactly common at the moment

806D2 if you can find one. I would take an Axis lock over a lock back any day.

Well since the 806 is discontinued i believe i would rather get that and then get the chinook later.

I have the chinook and i carry it for self defense. The blade is a little thick for cutting. I personally love the grip on the chinook though. Its all a matter of which one you like best.

While both are great sd knives, I would go with the 806. This is because it has the axis (I'm sure the chinook locks up strong too), but even more so because it's not such a pocketfull. To me, longer thinner knives are easier to tote, and, with the shape of the handle on the bm and the way it sits, it seems to welcome your hand into the pocket too. I also like how the handle on the afck adds a little extra to your reach. If those things aren't an issue to ya, get the one that feels better in your hand. -I don't personally own a chinook, but it's on my "near future" list.

I would get the chinook, i dont think the locks are that much of an issue considering how strong both are. I personaly like every thing about the chinook, it's built like a tank yet it's easy to carry. Basically it boils down to preference.

I'd get the 806...I like its' blade-style and handle better.

Chinook or Chinook II?

The 806D2 seems better for most general uses over the original Chinook, but the Chinook II is one of the best cutters out there. There's also a new version of the Chinook II that will be fully flat ground and it's due out this year.

Based on my Chinook I, (which used to be Glockman's, I believe :) ) I'd recommend the 806 as a better EDC. It cuts better, pierces better, is more comfortable in both the (well, my) hand and pocket,and (again for me) has a grip that is more secure for martial arts work. Now if you want a damn near indestructible, "I can pound on it with a hammer" folder, and don't mind big and chunky, the Chinook's your beast. Don't get me wrong, the 806 is tough, but I think the Chinook took folders to new levels of tank-likeness, and I own a BM 520. I think you'd have to go to an Extrema Ratio to get a more abuseable folder.

I haven't handled either but know they are both great knives. I'd say get an 806 while you can still find them. They've been discontinued.

Just got my chinook. Great knife, but still prefer the 806. I will say that they are probably my top 2 favorite designs. Cant go wrong with either, and I'd get em both if you can.

I have 2 Chinooks,it is my favorite folder.Fits my hand just right and it has a lot of heft to it.In case I have to whack something.Can't go wrong with it.
