chinook

I just ordered one of these. Its been a while since i've gotten a new spyderco. Just a couple of questions: I understand this knife is pretty heavy...is it alright for daily carry? Maybe thats a question that varies from person to person, but i want to know how some of you feel. Can i sharpen it on a DMT stone? And are there any reviews out yet? I've looked but found nothing much.
Thanks so much,
-Dan

Dan, the Chinook does weigh in heavier than many knives of similar size. It is very much a personal preference. I for one do not mind the weight. If I need to carry a lighter knife, then I grab my AFCK or another Spyderco. I am working on making a couple of different Kydex sheath set ups to make carry a little easier.

I have not had to sharpen mine, yet. I don't know if the DMT aligner will clamp on the blade. I have been able get the aligner to clamp onto some thick blades, so I feel confident that this could be accomplished

Jerry Van Cook did a review. There is a link to it somewhere in the forums here. i can't remember where I saw it.

ronybear,
thank you for the awesome picture! I can't wait 'till mine comes...by the way, why are you selling it if you think so highly of it?

The reason I have one for sale, is in anticipation that I would love the Chinook, I ordered extras. I had talked to someone in Spyderco and they described the knife to me. I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. As a matter of fact I am having one of the Chinooks fileworked and new ivory style micarta handles put on it. If you would like to see it, I will put a photo up after I get it back! Just wanted to share this awesome knife with others.
