Chipped GEC 25 bone handle....What to do?

I spend much of my time here lurking and learning. Over the past couple of years I have come to appreciate a traditional folder in my pocket, and recently discovered the GEC 25 with a sheepsfoot blade and easy open notch. For me, this has been a perfect combination of size and usefulness and pocketability. So I was sad to notice the other day that I had somehow chipped a piece of the jigged bone handle, right at the rear pin. I must have bumped or dropped it at some point. It is a small chip, and likely many would see it as a beauty mark on a well loved knife.

I reached out to GEC and they looked into the inventory for burnt orange jigged bone, and seems that they have some in stock, so they told me to send it in for repair. Which is amazing.

However, i was thinking about making this one a project. I picture a green canvas micarta handle with a shield. What are the thoughts out there? I already ordered a second identical knife in jigged bone as a back up. So I feel like I could go in a different direction with this one. Suggestions for me? If replacing the handle with micarta and shield...who would I ask to perform the work?

I'll try to attach a pic...

Mike

Mike, there are several folks here that are capable of doing the work. Thing is, to me it just doesn't look that bad at all. I'd just put it back in my pocket and keep on using it.

So....I did some filing and sanding to take the edges off the chip and to blend it with the rest of the handle. I actually liked how it began to mirror the light orange of the opposite end.
