I have a cf small sebenza from knifeworks. Today I dropped it and it took about a 3 foot fall. The knife hit the ground cf scale first. When the knife hit the ground it must have hit a rock because there is a chip in the cf scale. I thought this was odd as I have dropped the knife before and that didnt happen. Has anyone else had this expsrience

I have a large CF sebenza dropped it probably 3 times have not had a chip yet (knock on wood). Have pics? Where on the scale did it chip?

Ouch! My buddy had a small CF seb and he said the CF is pretty durable though not indestructible. Pics would really help to denote what kind of crack, it is. If it is a big one, I might contact CRK as maybe there was a defective flaw from the beginning because as far as I know, G10 is not even as strong as carbon fiber.

CF is very strong but rigid so it will chip rather easily. You will find it near impossible to break but chipping is a completely different story. I might be mistaken but even G10 is more chip resistant compared to CF.

Yep. Carbon fiber is nothing more than fiberglass that uses carbon based fibers as the strength instead of polyester fibers. It'll chip just like fiberglass, the eproxy wil flake out. Just like fiberglass, the shorter the fibers, the easier it will chip

Ill try to post pics tonight, it chipped about a centi meter from the lanyard pin. Im thinking about sanding it doen with some 1500 grit sandpaper to smooth it out

Another reason why it does not make sense that the CF version is more expensive than full Ti. Never heard of Ti chipping! It just attains "character." Look at the bright side... extra character!

Yeah I personally believe the CF version is the best looking version. That is my opinion though. I am a little concerned carrying my CF sebenza now though.

Everybody on BF says character is cool until you try to sell the knife, then nobody wants to buy it because it has scratches/dings/chips. :D

I can't get a good picture so I am unable to post one. However, my sandpaper idea worked. It really smoothed out the carbon fiber, the chip is noticeable but I think it looks kind of cool.

I picked up a Shirogorov 95 Hati w/ a CF non lock side. It was really a no-brainer since it was $500 & the full Ti version was $650. (Hati also has a beefier pivot & a super nice backspacer!) That said, I reeeealy don't wanna drop it! If they were the same price I certainly would have gone with the Full Ti. Although, it it LIGHT! It's a 1/2" longer & thicker bladed knife than my Lg Seb & is .4 oz. lighter. I can see where it would be a plus & I do think the CF Sebs are a tad nicer looking.

Can you post a clear, detailed picture of the chip? I may be able to offer some suggestions if it could be repaired easily (or not).
