Chipping A Busse Blade?

I chipped the tip of my TGLB trying to stab it through one of those inch thick glass pots that go on power lines

INFI rarely, if ever, chips. Sometimes you will get little dings and dents that are easily removed/straightened out with a smooth steel such as a butchers polishing steel.

I whacked by B11 against a rock several times whilst cutting out tree roots. They were full blooded swings, as hard as I could physically chop. Just dents. No chips or tears in the steel. It really jarred my hand too! hahaha!

I'd just sharpen it out. Once you get past the original edge you'll be golden. Assuming you don't overheat the edge that is. It'll chip out for sure then.

Just go slow by hand being sure to match the ANGLE that you prefer. You'll be surprised how much better it holds an edge.

I managed to chip a blade on concrete. Needless to say, concrete is not typical knife food...

RobStanley, always impressed with your images/videos.
You can tell a guy has skills when he can even make a dinged edge look good.

I put a chip in the edge of a MOAB. My own fault, caught a rather thick (and old) nail while chopping away at a tree.

I think about 5 years ago.

I haven't, but in some cases I have read about people chipping one.. its with the factory edge an they find it much tougher after a good re-sharpen... like I said I have never chipped one but I did find this theory true in edge retention..

Dents, dings, tiny tear-outs easily steeled & sharpened, and even one tip sheared off on a big rock...
But I've never had a Busse chip out.
:)

I've had a few dings on my 11 11, one from a nail and one from some hidden wire in a wreath. I'll slowly sharpen them out. They really haven't affected the performance for me as I'm just chopping with it.
