Does anyone know how long this handle style has been used?
What method are the HI Chiruwa handle scales attached by?
I believe it's a soft metal pin pinged through.
Also a lot of the WWII knives I've seen in pics seem to be of this handle style. They seem to be longer though, around 20 inches.
Were they also heavier?
Thanks for any info!

The chiruwa handle has been around for a long time. Very basic method used everywhere. They are slightly heavier than the tapered tang models but not really a lot.

At BirGorkha the kamis use aluminum and steel for the pins. Whatever is handy. You can check with a magnet.
