Yep,its' true, thats' not a typo. Had my doubts at first, but its the genuine article. Purchased from a 3rd party, so if I'm out of line posting this please say so. It's definitely HI & definitely made by Bura, cresent moon on blade. Too excited right now to give a review. Slight corrosion, no problemo. Frog has eyelets. Yeah, eyelets! Balance is unbeliveable. Saaweeeet! Chakma & Karda is useable size. Did I say Sirupati's ROCK?

I have seen a pic of that, HD.....long time ago.....anybody help?

And believe me, I've asked about it too....:D

re: chiruwa sirupati

Congrats! Sounds like a Shop 1 khuk (may be wrong here). Can you verify?

Seriously?? They have actually made them before?? Wow, now I absolutely have gotta keep checking in here in case one shows up

Seems like I remember somebody saying that soon after Bura picked up the Gangas, a villager version was made. Yvsa might know.

A Chiruwa Sirupati would be cool. If someone could find pics of this Khukuri, that would be great!

ernesto, does the Khukuri have a makers mark or is it unmarked?

I have one by Sanu. It's one of my favorite blades. Although HI didn't make them too often, I wouldn't necessarily say that they're rare.

The one I have balances like a dream. It's a lot of knife though. It's 20" and 36 oz.!

Chiruwa Sirupati?!

:grumpy:

:barf:

The Chiruwa Ang Kholas are deathly anorexic as it is; to have skinnier, lighter khukuris sounds awful. Like those waif models of the 90's.

Sick sick sick

"waif models of the 90's."

mmmmmm...Kate Moss...

Oh sorry were we talking about something? Oh yes Chiruwas. I would like to see a Chiruwa Chit myself. Love those blades. :D

Just got a digital camera. I need to learn how to use it & go through Pen's tutorial before I can post pixs. But I can describe the Chir Siru & give some specs.
OAL 20" center of buttcap to blade tip. Blade 14.25"
Handle oal 6" doesn't add up but thats what I measure.
Wood portion of handle 5.25" Standard bolster, not habaki.
Buttcap 2.25" x 1 1/8"
Cho creep .75" saweet! from forward edge of bolster to aft edge of Cho ,compare Chir AK by Kumar 1" from forward edge of habaki to aft side of Cho.
Markings left side half moon crescent no initials. Correct me if this is not Buras' mark. Both sides of blade below spine,is this called SoS?,double line foming a knifeblade. However on this one where the knife tip would be, is flat like a tanto not curved like normal. Oh yeah, there is engravings inside the lines. Where the blade "breaks" or bends forward is the usual script but this looks more like the script on my Khukri Axe oops I mean 26.5" Chir Ak by Sher this leads me to believe it may be a villager.
Almost forgot spine at bolster 7/16" spine at break 8/16" spine at end of fuller 5/16" Can't weigh it but was told 1lb 14ozs. Definitely heavier than my heaviest Kumar Chir AK.
It's getting late,my head hurts, & I'm thisty.

really only need to know one thing - lighting. Get as much of it as you can. The more diffused, the better.

we needs the pics....:D

I need to upgrade my membership before I can post pix. So I'll try the link thing for now. This is only a test run.

I'd take it. :) Awful lot of belly on it for a Siru, I must say. Of course, this seems to be the black sheep siru anyway, so...

I think the photo makes the belly appear wider than it really is. I took a measurement halfway between the bend in the blade & blade tip 1 5/8" wide.
