Had a handful of folks who bought Washboards and wanted some extra tips for chisel grinds - Emersons in particular. Sadly I do not own any and the only chisel grind knives I own are very cheap steak knives. So, sharpened up one of my bench plane blades as a stand-in. Plenty of non-WB specific tips and technique for those who don't own one yet :D, so worth a look no matter.

Thanks for watching!

Another great video. It's cool, I was watching a video of a chef sharpening a knife with a shapton glass 500 waterstone.
After that he went straight to a washboard he bought from (heavyhanded). He was using your washboard wrapped in paper with some black compound. He used his finger with some mineral oil, rubbed it on the compound, then put it on the paper and stropped. I was amazed at the sharpness he got just with a 500 stone then to your washboard.

Thank you Martin for the attention you pay your customers. This video was very helpful in giving me confidence to tackle the sharpening of the various Emersons I own. your customer service is next to none.

No problem, glad to help if I can (and my camera cooperates). Give a shout if you have any issues going forward.

It took a lot of testing and day to day use for me to stop being amazed at how good a job it can do for how simple it is. Doesn't do it for you, but does make it easy. When it was still more or less in the trial phase, I actually sharpened a butterknife dull 50-60s vintage Sabatier kitchen knife on it using only black and white compound. Took longer than practical so was really a proof of principle, but kept the bevel flat and clean.
I normally do my chisels and plane blades on a hard SiC or India stone, but this worked out very well and just as quick.

Thanks for watching!
