Does anyone have one?
I ordered one from William Nease and I'm very excited.

I don't have one. Phil Hartsfield used to do chisel grinds on some of his also. I would like to see some pics when it arrives please.

Thanks guys.
The sword is a ways off. I will post pix though.
I love the chisel grind and I think it will be very cool on a Katana. If I was going to use a sword for actual cutting purposes, I get a V shaped blade.
This one will be for zombies.

I have whats probably technically a wakizashi ( I think thats the term)... Also from William... Very nice... and OMG sharp!

Just wondering, what would you cut with a chisel grind katana? Aside from flesh (and that would be questionable, too thick), would it even cut bamboo? I have no experience with chisel grinds, so just asking.

David- I will not cut with it.
The chisel grind will cut very well but once the edge gets a little dull, that's it! Phill shared this info with me.

Well, one good thing about the chisel grind is it's probably quite easy to sharpen. Also, sorry...as I noticed in your first post you said this one's for zombies.

Dats ok.
Yes, that's one advantage the chisel blade, half the work to sharpen.
And, they're badazz. :)

David- Since this is a Jinto, combat sword, no, it does not matter, imo.
This blade style was is called kata-shinogi. These blades were generally short and are very rare. I just wanted a longer blade. :)
Rapt- Can you post a pic of your Nease?

This ^ is true. But, overall, is not the chisel blade easier to sharpen than a V blade?

Ah! It's so nice to see my babies again! Rapt that was from my very first knife show! I have a hard time remembering faces but I remember the way you had to have that blade!

Personally I like the one side grind for one side cutting, like a free hanging rope (though all my really spectacular free hanging rope cuts were with v bevels... but they were also for 2 by 4s). I think if I were after a perfectly symmetrical zombie cut I would want a v bevel. Zombies don't care if the cuts are curved!

Also the look is fascinating, so clean on one side, lots of action on the other...

Less concentration is required in the grind, no matching the bevel terminations (if any), no matching bevel height, easier at the point as well. Fun.

After Rolf's chisel kat I can finish the sashimi sword... optimized one handed free hanging rope cutter (Slashimi?)

Carbidizing looks better on the chisel grind too, though I think the Chisel Lykat is not to be carbidized...
