Greetings everybody,

Just finished up the leather on this one. It is O-1 with kind of an unusual cross section. The right side grind is flat down to the edge with a hand scraped fuller above. The left side is hollowed for ease of flattening like on a Sashimi Knife. This can be maintained with water stones the same way you would sharpen a traditional Japanese knife. The handle part was spattered with a resist and etched. It give a nice texture.

There is some truly great work on this forum. I would love to hear your comments.

Cheers,

Nick

Thanks and thanks!

Just checked out your website, Mr. Appleby. I really like your knives. Especially the MOP neck knife and the knuckle duster.

Very nice, very original, very unique, and very interesting. I would love to test that thing to see how it cuts, you might be onto something with that type of grind.

Thank you Darrin.

I did quite a bit of cutting with this one and I was very pleased with the performance. Sometimes I think the flat side on a chisel gound knife can look a little bland. The hollow adds visual appeal and allows the owner the ability to have a perfectly flat back without too much work and without ruining the looks of the knife. The bevel is pretty steep but goes right to the edge. Think half of a scandi grind with no resistance on the left side.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick,

This is a nice knife, I usually don't like chisel grinds on knives other than very small ones.
This one looks good. The sheath is outstanding as well.
