My chitlangi by Kumar arrived today and its beautiful! I could not be happier and wish to thank Yangdu for selling it to me. Here are a couple pics.

What do some of the marks mean? This is a beautiful piece and I feel truly honored to have it for awhile. It will not be my last HI knive.

Its a beautiful blade, Scott. Now you have the virus. What are you going to get next?

A question for everyone. How do the kamis create the decoration along the spine of the blade? Do they engrave it or roll stamp it or what. Thanks for your thoughts.

For a newbie, Scott, you've already acquired an exquisite taste in khukuries. It just so happens that the Chitlangi is my favorite... :D

The U.B. is in memory of Uncle Bill. The two small figures at the end of the Sword of Shiva are in Nepali, and either mean Himalayan Imports of BirGhorka. The Star of David is Kumar's signature stamp, and the figure next to it has been referred to as the "New Mexico" mark. It is probably another way of showing that you have a genuine H.I. product. This might be something that Yangdu might clear up for us, as no one really has a definitive answer.

Sharpen up your Chitlangi, and use it... Let us know your impressions... Congratulations for a fantastic first choice. :)

The Chitlangi was the second or third HI khuk I got. I like the way Kumar placed hatch marks on your bolster- very attractive.

Though it's not a chopper, I did cut down a 8" diameter Pine with mine.

That was something that kept me wondering for a long time... I started a thread, and the input told me that it is engraved into the blade before the khukuri is polished. The yellow metal is brass hammered into the blade. It is a very beautiful and striking design, isn't it?

I agree with you, Munk, that the cross hatching on the bolster is a particularly attractive design, and Kumar does it just right.

I also like the crosshatching on the bolster and handle. That's a beautiful knife!

Great pics, too!

Nice pix & welcome. Now you need a nice Ang Khola to go with it... maybe wood this time... or a Baby Ganga Ram Special.

Khukuris like their own company. Watch your mail. Once one gets in your house, it invites others...
