I was curious as to the price difference between the two. I would like to own one for a home defense weapon. I am sure both would make fine weapons but I am partial to the Chaipuri because it is so purdy;) Any ideas or suggestions?

Take the Chitlangi. Both are about the same price but the Chitlangi is the better knife -- and scabbard! I have one Chitlangi in stock.

Do what Uncle Bill is telling you as he is entirely correct!!!!
And dewingrm the Chitlangi sure isn't a slouch when it comes to 'purdy.':D
And besides it has a Chainpur handle, the absolute best of both worlds IMO!!!!:)

Is there a difference between the Chitlangi and the Sirupati besides the handle design?

The chitlangi has fullers on the blade, which add strength and move the point of balance farther forward. It should be the better "fighter" of the two. I think it is also lighter than a sirupati of the same size.

That is just my observation, though. I'll let the experts confirm or deny it.:D

Except the Chainpuri ( at least my three ) one of which is a 14oz 17" villager is even lighter as a rule, depending on the batch. And my 20" HI Chainpuri was the rapier of khuks till the Kobra came along.

For crying out loud, what difference does it make when most all of 'em move faster than the eye can follow?

For Criminey's Sake - the proper response to any of them involves a carbine or shotgun at about 25 yards - in the back, without warning, and from behind cover!!!

Uncle Bill, can we get Chitlangi in different sizes? This has become my favorite style since getting my 21in Durba and I would like to (as funds allow) collect a family of different sizes.

It is in the mail. That really didn't take to much thought, after all of the posts it seems the Chilangi is a sure winner. I will tell you all what I think when I get it;)

I gotta stay more in touch!! All these are different models that I haven't seen, and aren't carried on the "sales" website. I own a villager "chainpuri" and GH Cheetlang, and I like the style. Someone give me a a link to pictures and prices!!

Oh, I also came into possession of a 12 inch Sirupati. The maker's mark is a "trident", so I could use some help. Very pretty blade, though not quite as light as my villager Mini.

That mark is Murali who fell ill with TB and is back in his village trying to stay alive.

We got in a couple of Chitlangis about 18 inch but 21 is standard.
