Chitlangi or Gelbu?

get both :p lol j/k

both would preform great for delimbing :)
the chitlangi has 2 fuller while the gelbu has only 1... its all a matter of personal preference really...
if you are not into fullers the siru would be another great option ;)
i prefer the gelbu special myself

regarding the tempering... it really varies from piece to piece due to the teapot temper the kamis are famous for :D

im sure a few other members will chime in with their suggestions...
whatever you choice will be... im sure you will not be disappointed.

ohhh and i was serious... get both :o
happy HIKV

I assume from your kuk choices you're interested in a weapon more than a tool? The kuk's you're considering are on the light side when compared to an AK for example. The kuk's you're considering would be okay for light chopping but not the best for heavy chopping. From what I have read and based on my admittedly limited experience, the Sirupate, Chitlangi and Gelbu Special, with their thinner blade profiles, are intended to be faster handling, weapons oriented kuks.

I have a Chitlange, Sirupate and a Kobra and, in my opinion, their blade profile would render them less effective choppers. They don't possess much belly.

As Jai siad, I'm sure others will offer their thoughts.

I have a 21" Chitlangi. It's by Sher, so it's probably heavier and thicker than the typical specimen. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on branches at all. The blade shape isn't optimized for chopping, but it'll do. :D
I like the 18" WW2 as a good all-purpose blade -- a happy middle ground between the AKs and the sirupatis.

One recalls that knives with 7" blades 3/16" thick of relatively brittle stainless steel are touted as "choppers" by the non-khuk knife world. We are talking here of 1/4" or thicker 5160 (truck spring) steel that is differentially hardened. It's all relative.

Hello,

Get the 18'' Chitlangi.

What Yangdu said! The Chitlangi has better balance, a better handle and a cooler looking blade. My very first HI, a 21" Chitlangi by Amtrak is still my favorite.

Oh, yes, welcome BTW! :D

The chitlangi is a bit prettier, but there's a soft spot in my heart for the Gelbu. It's wicked-mean. Speaking of which, I haven't broken in my new Gelbu yet. Weekend project! :D
