Hi all,

The function is self-defense + a little of chopping.

Does Pachthar Chit come in double fillers as well?

How would you rate them, if any?

Many thanks!;)

I can't compare the 2 as I don't have a pachtar Chit. I have two 21" double fullered ones that are just AWESOME. Beautiful as well as functional.

From my understanding 'panchthar' refers specifically to that blade form, so the Panchthar Chitlangi would be a panchthar blade with a chitlangi handle.

The Panchthar Chitlangi only has one narrow but deep fuller on each side of the blade with wide convexed edge bevels. The cross-section is very much like a katana's blade with a bohi.

I have a 1-5 scale I use for evaluating khukris as weapons (1) to to heavy chopping tools (5)

On this scale I rate the standard Chitlangi as a 3 and the Panchthar Chitlangi as a 2.5 with the Sirupati and Chainpuri at 2 and the Kobra and Dahrain Chitlangi both at 1.

Second from the bottom in this photo is a Panchthar Chitlangi:

JayGoliath, when it comes to Chitlangi's, Wolf_1989, is the 'go-to' man IMO! ;)

Man, that is a nice collection! I just bought a Chitlange (not from Aunty) and I can't wait to get it!

Chitlangi or Panchthar Chitlangi?
Looking at the picture below posted by Wolf_1989 in his thread 18" Panchthar Chitlangi, IMHO you should go ahead with Panchthar Chitlangi first  Lots of thanks to Wolf_1989 for the nice show and tell in the thread

I have a chitlangi kept with the others somewhere under my bed :D

mohd.

Pak,

Terima Kasih!

Speaking of which, Pachthar Chit are lighter than the Chitlangi, better feel for slashing, correct?

Same technique applies to Malla, Siru and all other lean blades?

I must admit i really love the profile of Pach.Chit just like the Gelbu Special.
Chitlangi by Santosh with another dui chirra and thicker spine is another getter!

My impression of the Panchthar Chitlangi is it's much like a Chainpuri, but with a more robust blade. It handles like a Sirupati but it's slightly heavier and the wide edge bevels endow it with wicked cutting ability. Where it really shines though, over the standard Chitlangi, is in the stab.

I would hate to use a knife that nice for self defense. After you use it, It's going to be confiscated by the police until they (maybe) return it to you after the investigation is done. It's not going to receive careful treatment while in police custody, either. It's going to be in much worse shape than when you got it.
Then again, would I want to trust my life to a cheap knife. No.
Perhaps an Annapurna Bowie or jungle knife.

IMO if I have to use a khukuri to fight for my life, I'll gladly give it up to the police and buy two to replace it. ;)
