I don't get onto the shopping site much, but just looked and was VERY surprised!

18 inchers:
Gelbu Special $150
Chitlangi $125

21 inchers:
Gelbu Special $175
Chitlangi $145

The two seem extremely comparable in length, width, and mass.

IMO, the Chitlangi is a nicer khuk, and represents more labor on the part of the kamis - due to the fullers and checked handle. So it seems a little underpriced compared to the Gelbu! Another great HI value.

(Truthfully, I posted this because I think the Chit needs a little price bump, but Uncle Bill's at the helm.)

.. I just ordered my first Chitlangi, the first khuk I've bought in 6+ months! My precgonition allows me to review it ahead of time, so here goes;

Excellent sasitaal handle, fit and finish perfect, only one small flaw--the price was too damn low!

Good stuff. I finally got a replacement for my Gelbu Special!

Already traded it to N2S. Here's what it looked like after a bit of dressing up:

Very cool!
Maybe I will try this some day to cover up all the sharpening-scratched areas on blades I've got, now.:(

I used Perma Blue cold blueing solution and masked out the silver parts so they would stay silver.

Etch with copper inlay.

Nice pix.

Actually, the kamis throw darts at a board with numbers on it to determine the cost of a khukuri.

Amu Bill, who posted these pix fer me waay back in 2002. I've gotten a lotta mileage outta them, Bill. Thanks.

Yep, its a great sport. We call it Foosball (pronounced "Fooze-ball") here in the colonies. Takes a few years of dedicated play to get good, lots more to be a contender on a state/nat'l level.

The thing I really dug about The british Isles was the way the pubs were gaming/gathering places as much as they were alcohol-dispensation units. A lot of that culture has gone from bars here, most likely because here they want ya to buy beer then make way for the next customer. Slightly different pace and focus here.

But. . . so . . . its not always like 'Cheers' then?
