This wood is Chitum Burel Wood. D2 Steel and a good looking knife I think!!
I love this wood!!! Its only harvested in 2 states in the U.S.

Actually it's chittum with two 't's I believe, although I've seen it both ways. It actually only grows in two places in the world---Huntsville, AL as you said, and the Mesopotamian regions. Supposedly it was the wood used by Noah to build the Ark. Interesting fact about it---it seemingly takes absolutely forever to rot. They've found pieces of it as furniture buried under thousands of years of sediment and while the pieces aren't intact of course, they haven't broken down significantly either. Also, it's extremely strong for its weight. Neat stuff and hard to get. Awesome knife!! :thumbup:
 
There 6" overall. And going to Davis Brown for kydex neck sheaths :)
