WOW! That is stunning and an awesome wood pattern. Great work and i wish i could afford something like that now

Thanks. These are not available so don't feel too bad. I will miss these for sure!!!

Those are really beautiful and not just the wood. That blade shape is really nice and the whole thing flows well together. Good job.

great looking knife--this is the first view of chitum wood for me -I see why you like it absolutely stunning--Steve

I got it wrong. The buyer tells me that this wood only grows in 2 PLACES in the US. Both in Alabama!!!

Sorry Guys!!! I was all wrong -

t1mpani got me the correct info :thumbdn:

t1mpani wrote - "Actually it's chittum with two 't's I believe, although I've seen it both ways. It actually only grows in two places in the world---Huntsville, AL as you said, and the Mesopotamian regions. Supposedly it was the wood used by Noah to build the Ark. Interesting fact about it---it seemingly takes absolutely forever to rot. They've found pieces of it as furniture buried under thousands of years of sediment and while the pieces aren't intact of course, they haven't broken down significantly either. Also, it's extremely strong for its weight. Neat stuff and hard to get."

exactly what I would expect from a maker in NC!
