I am trying to decide on which knife to get next. The problem is do I get new Spyderco Manix II or do I get a 2 knife package, Kershaw Rake and Ram.
I do like my Spyderco's and carry them regulairly and I have several Kershaw's that I also carry as EDC's. Is the Rake as heavy duty as the MAnix II?

How about a few opinions about this pending purchase. Thanks for the help!:D

I think that you should handle them and see what you think. I have never held a ram or a rake, but every other kershaw that i have used has been excellent. the manix 2 is a bit expensive, but i am assuming that it is one heck of a knife. i would hold them before making your decision, and then go with the one that you like better.

The Rake & Manix 2 are the same price basically. I tend to like the handle & jimping of the Manix 2 - very nicely executed. I like the Rake but shy away from the composite blades as I just can't get used to the way they look. It does look well made though. Personal choice as your thread pointed to. :)

Manix 2 is a good all-around EDC. The RAM has an interesting lock, but doesn't have the same utility. Never held the Rake.

I would but the Manix 2.

I have all three.

Manix 2 - My current EDC, awesome knife! Comfortable handle, awesome blade, very easy opening, spider hole.

Rake - SOLID knife, awesome looking composite blade, D2 steel (need I say more).

RAM - Very sharp, great price, lightning fast opening, most fun knife to "play" with.

As far as heavy duty, I'd say the Manix 2 MIGHT have a stronger lock (BBL vs Liner), but the Manix 2 does have slight blade play whereas the Rake is solid. However, I have a sprint run Manix 2, and have heard the regular production blades are much less likely to have blade play.

All in all, they're all great knives. But, the Manix 2 stays in my pocket the most. That is until my ZT0551 gets here.

Thanks for the pics, they do definitely help a lot. Is the Ram an open back design like the Spyderco's or a closed back like the Rake with Speedsafe?

I want to jump in and thank you for the pics as well. I have been contemplating the RAM for a couple of weeks.
