I've been curious about M4 for a while now, but it is not widely available. I picked up a Benchmade 960BK-801 in M4, but I don't know if I want to go through the hassle of stripping the coating.

What are other fixed and folding production/semi-production choices in M4? A Tom Krein in M4 would be great, so I might just have to talk to him. I want to know my options first.

I have a Tom Krein Ultimate Caper in M4 and it is great. You should definately call him, but he is going to be super busy until Blade show, so you may want to wait a couple weeks to call him. M4 gets real sharp very easily with excellent edge retention. It isn't the most corrosion resistant steel, but that is what oil and blade maintenance like wipe downs are for.

Right now you have the 760 Lum Tanto from Benchmade (folder, coated) and still some Mules MT03 directly from Spyderco (fixed, uncoated, no scales).
