I'm not sure where this picture came from but this is one awesome knife.
I'd like to see it produced just as the picture shows.
Anyone else hoping this happens soon or interested in it?

You're right, brother. That thing looks AWESOME!

I wonder if the custom shop would make one???

They probably could now that BLADE is done, but it'd be a while. The good thing is that if you DID get it made, it'd still cost LESS than buying an original SHBA, AND you'd get it in INFI! ;) :D

Isn't the current cost of customs $100/inch plus? SHBA's are going in the $800 range.

And something looks wrong about that photo. That no-choil looks photoshopped. It's not like the choil on a SHBA is that big to begin with.

I posted that.

It "IS" a photoshop. Notice where it says "Concept" on the picture. Also, while I like the subtle curved plunge line, it wouldn't really look like that in production. However, a tapered curve plunge line is possible and done on many knives. Purely aesthetics though. For the record, I like the solid pins on this knife.

Personally, on smaller knives, the little details become more and more relevant to me. And I don't like choils on knives like the SHBA and smaller.

I am fine with choils on SJTAC, SARSquatch and larger knives. But, I have never liked them on the smaller Busses like the AD and such.

From my perspective, I have provided disclaimers for Jerry's use and most of my photoshops are just little tweaks on what I consider "JERRY BUSSE" designs.

However, I have been told by Jerry that my photoshops and other peoples photoshops cause legal issues:

Per Jerry: "We don't want drawings or photoshop pics for legal reasons."

I posted that pic prior to hearing the above comment from Jerry and even back then I tried putting a disclaimer on the photo. But, I guess that isn't sufficient. :(

Unfortunately, I feel I am WAY more capable of getting my design preferences across in pictures rather than trying to describe in words. I think too much is left up to interpretation in words and knife designs can often be either great or very poor depending on very little details - sometimes.

I have even offered to only send my concepts to Jerry for his eyes and use only. But, I gather that isn't of interest either.

So, unfortunately, now I am left with no real decent means to convey my preferences. Since any photo-shop attempts appear to nullify themselves from happening. :(

For the record, that knife is currently one of my "Grail" knives as well. However, I would prefer satin at a CG price.
And a NICE factory convex slicing edge.

..... HINT HINT - a couple of "verbal" design suggestions not shown on drawing or photoshop!!!

I can't justify and will not pay secondary market prices. Nor will I EVER pay $100/inch! - More power to those with enough money to justify that.

$225 - $250 or so seems about right to me for that knife.... and a price I would pay for the right design.

I think Jerry would sell a TON of them at $225 - $250.

If you really want this and want a user and don't want to pay $100/inch, consider buying a Skinny Ash and have it chopped down by someone who can do good mod work. It would still cost more than I am willing to pay and/or be more work than I am willing to do, (I have considered, but decided it wasn't worth it to me), but it would cost a lot less than $100/inch and/or cheaper than buying a SHBA on the secondary market - assuming you want a user - not a collectible.

Personally, I will just wait and hope for Jerry to make it. :o .... or consider other options.

Interesting thoughts, D. I was so focused on the choil-less look that I failed to see the words in blue. Sadly, I'm color blind, which means my vision is blue-shifted. It's not like blue doesn't stand out like a turd in a swimming pool or anything to me. LOL

I love the overall feel of my SHBA, but not completely sold on it's use. I think one made from a Skinny-ASH would be a great idea b/c it would be in INFI and the right thickness.

Choil-less ASH FATTY!!!!

That is beyond words as far as design goes!!!

GREAT JOB!!!!!

The reason that companies do not want any designs or ideas presented to them is that there is simply no way to protect themselves from potential lawsuits where someone claims the company used their design and now wants a share of the profits.

Yeah...... I would put this "Choilless" SHBA pretty high on my list ..... along with a "Choilless" AD/BAD

And we have been having a discussion about drawings and photoshop stuff over on ScrapYard forums.

Jerry has beat around the bush a bit in regards to not wanting us to post pictures and drawings of "Concepts" or other designs.

Dan finally chimed in made the following more direct comments:

"Photochops of previously made blades coupled with previously made handles are a perfect illustration of someone thinking that they or someone else have "design rights" to a particular model. It is elementary to mix and match all existing blade shapes and handles. We have done it with every handle and blade from the entire Busse Knife Group. We do it long before we show a new model to the public. There is no "designing" involved when you chop and paste our already existing designs. You have neither "designed" the blade nor the handle. And yet, as a perfect example, look at the "design" credit already being given to KG for having "designed" the "Scrapweiler" by bld522.

KG, as for stating that you were, " 'SORRY'... if somehow me coming up with the Scrapweiler has doomed it." There is no need to be sorry. You neither came up with the idea first nor did you "doom" it.

bld522, you started this thread and then became the perfect illustration of why we don't allow it. This is the exact reason that we shy away from photochopped or drawn designs. By asking for descriptions, we get an overall sense of what you Dogs are after.

Hope this clears it up for those who weren't getting it, Dan "

-----------------

"I agree with KG when he said that he was "disappointed in our society about this type of LEGAL "CRAP" mentallity." Sadly, that is the reality of our society.

I realize that all of you Dogs are passionate about your knives as are we at the Yard. We listen to our customers and will continue to do so. We only ask that you do us the favor of keeping it in writing and not in drawings or photoshopped images.

We also ask that you not second guess our decisions when it comes to our business. My family has been doing this for more than 27 years. Along the line, we've learned a thing or two.

Let's hope this thread is the end of it.

I'm locking this one down.

Thanks Dogs, Dan "

The above Concept Choilless SHBA is a concept Photochop.

With Jerry being a bit more vague, but with Dan being "now" pretty direct about now NOT wanting photochops and similar drawings and pictures, I think it is safe to assume Jerry does NOT want photochops posted anymore either.

Disclaimer verbage attached to the picture with attempts to give rights to Busse and kin are apparently insufficient. :(

The above photo has been on the forums for a few months, so not new.

And neither Dan nor Jerry have requested us "yet" to quit reposting "old" photochop existing pictures or asked us to delete the existing files. But, just so you know Jerry and Dan don't like photochops and drawings being posted. :(

Personally, I like drawing and coming up with ideas - always on the quest for improvements and new designs (.... sorry...scuse me.... new combinations of existing designs. ;) - since they have all been done before/already.....)

Anyway, if Jerry want's to avoid legal issues with the above choilless SHBA (first, he need not worry.:thumbup: ) Second, he can feel free to make a few "Minor" changes while maintaining the basic concept.

Since, the Busse's seem to feel verbal description is fine - even if not pics. :

If changes "NEED" to be made to the above concept, then possibly consider:

- have a straight plunge line or some other type of plunge line... (Although, I personally think the tapered radius is a LOT more visually appealing than a straight plunge line - but maybe a slight variation to the taper (???)

- a very high saber grind with a slim flat that is only about 1/4" high that goes about 60%-65% the length of the spine

- Give it a Full to sharp factory convex edge

- Change the front of the scales - although I like simple and not fond of all of the waves and busy scallops on some

- The pommel could be more rounded at the top back

- Slightly change the angle of the pommel

- Make the handle skeletonized!!!!!

*** Make the blade about 0.17" - 0.1875 thick  (*For improved function and balance - rather than a less functional fatty anchor sharpened prybar...)

Make the blade about 4.75" - 5.0" long.

I would also ask for closer to $200 in price, but... :(

.

That blade is totally boss. I'd love to see something like that on the street someday.
