Hello all, I am looking to purchase both these knives but I will probably waiting about a year between purchases. I am wondering if either is a sprint run. Thanks for any info

No, they are production folders. I recommend picking up a Gayle Bradley, it's probably my favorite Spyderco.

I thought the chokwe was a sprint, but could be wrong. The GB is awesome though, so get that one first :)

The Chokwe has been out since like 2009....That'd be pretty long for a sprint, eh? ;)

I guess I never looked too close since I don't like it, the GB however is the bee's knee's

Thank you for the info, do you guys have the chokwe? I am intrested in getting a chris reeves style lock and the knife design is appealing to me. I am concerned about tip strength though.

If your concerned about tip strength, then don't get the Chokwe. It's a laser beam. You could do surgery with the knife. Personally I like the knife with it's thin super sharp and pointy tip.

The Chokwe is, while a bit funky looking, an incredible knife design. You know the saying 'like a hot knife through butter'? The chokwe doesn't have to be hot. It's a cutting, slicing machine. But it's a knife. It's not a screwdriver, chisel or pry bar. The fine tip is great for detail cutting. It's not so great for things you should be using one of those other tools for instead.

If you're going to be waiting a year between purchases, I'd get it first, because I think it's been out longer and seems to be, for some bizarre reason I don't understand, less popular than the GB.

the GB looks like a great knife - but the Chokwe is unique, and fits beautifully in the hand... also, what other Spyderco also has pole lashing holes?

price is about the same for both - i like my titanium RIL chokwe, and it was easy to add a plastic color liner to the G10 side:

The chokwe is the best 3''+ slicer in the current spyderco lineup......I was thinking of getting a second...
It must have a pivot bushing because it opens allot like the para 2 maybe even smoother..Can someone
confirm that?

Thank you everyone for the input. I'm planning on getting the Chokwe first... i don't see the GB going anywhere soon!

I doesn't have a pivot bushing unfortunately:grumpy: but it is still crazy smooth. I made a lockbar stabilizer for mine (I know you guys are getting tired of seeing it but i just don't care;))

the Gayle bradley had a run of around 200 without the logo and a higher heat treat ;) the chokwe was far to delicate for me, i sold it within a week.
