to me carbon fiber feels a little slick.. g10 has some grip, which i like for winter carry..

The Native IV and CF Caly 3 perhaps, but you've obviously never handled a CF Stretch or Manix 2. Stretch CF has pretty much the same texture as Spyderco's G-10, the stuff on the Manix 2 is even more aggressive. I'd agree with Flatlander that either of those two would be a better choice. Also, FWIW, from what I've heard, the G-10 on the Leafstorm is smooth, not textured like the G-10 on most Spydercos.

Another one worth considering would be the CF Sage, the textured weave is not as "grippy" as the other two, but it's a lot better than dead smooth.

The surface has that woven texture, it's not just the weave showing through a smooth surface.

Well obviously you should get both at some point in time, but I'd go with the para first.

one more question.. what about the compression lock? have a sebenza, really love the frame lock.. also like a liner lock. do you see any problems? many thanks...

Love it. :) More peace of mind for some then a liner lock, but just as easy to use, even with heavy gloves on.

The Captain? (It does a nearly perfect four finger grip, no wasted space at all.)

To use I'd go for the Para, to play I'd take the Leafstorm.
Overall, given that I consider the Para to be a smaller Military, of which I have no use for, the aesthetic appeal of the Leafstorm would take my money first.

Para.

Actually, there's a big difference in blade length, and that would be my main criterion for differentiating the two. Leafstorm wins if you're in a length-restrictive environment. Para wins for general utility.

Also, if you're considering winter use, the whole lock side of the Leafstorm is bare metal. Dual scales - whether CF or G-10, will be more insulated and grippy.

My first instinct was to shout out Para, handsdown.

But you should really get both. The problem here is that the Para being such a revered model will most likely be around forever in some shape or form. The Leafstorm however, is a Spyderco/Wilkins collaboration, that will probably be a limited production folder.

That being said, get the Para, but buy the Leafstorm first before they become unobtainable.

thank's for All the help!! tough choice, i guess i'm going to toss a coin. but that para with green g-10 looks mighty sweet...

I own both. You need to tell us a bit more of what you will be using the knife for? If its for an office type job or where you deal with the sheeple, the leafstorm would be the better bet. However, if this is your weekend warrior, or people aren't afraid of knives the Para d2 would be the better route.

If I had to chose only 1 between the 2 mentioned, I would go with the Para d2 since it is a limited piece.
