Recommendation? Choosing a knife

Hello, I've been looking for a new knife to replace my Mora 2000 for a while now, as I had it since I was a kid and it's starting to fail a little bit - the edge geometry is broken because i learned sharpening on this knife, the edge gets bent or chips very fast on harder woods and the plastic sheath has lost most of its retention. Specifically, I want a scandi fixed blade with a sharp spine and better edge retention than the 12c27 mora uses. After some research, I have found the Real steel bushcraft 2, which seems pretty much ideal and costs about as much as I'd like to spend. I already have a D2 knife (ESEE Zancudo) and I'm happy with this steel. Is there a something fundamentally bad about this knife or are there even better alternatives? I have already ruled out the Jaakaripuukko because I don't want a soft rubber handle, because from my experience it starts to form blister-looking things after some time and than starts peeling.

I would recommend the Enzo trapper scandi ground in D2 if that's the steel you want. I have no experience with the Real Steel so I can't speak to it. I own 2 Enzo trappers, one in D2 and one in Elmax, I love them both. DLT trading has a great selection of Enzo knives.

Unfortunatelly the D2 trapper costs about twice as much as the real steel in my coutry (central Europe). I just wanted to know if real steel was a known no-go or something.

I own a Realsteel Mini 127 and kiridashi. HT on the 127 seems Off(D2), the kiridashi is stellar (elmax)

The Cold Steel, Finn Wolf is another option in your price range.
It’s AUS8 and not D2 like you wanted but sil another option to consider.

I looked around in a shop I always order at, they're in finland(I'm in Germany and buying from them has always been absolutely hassle free) and found a few knives you may find interesting.
Roselli has lots of puukos and also a wootz series. For example the "Wootz UHC Carpenter knife R210", coming in at around 100€ it's a bit more expensive than the Realsteel but hardness is listed at 66-68HRC which may make it interesting. There are cheaper knives in this series too, but also way more expensive ones.
Afaik all of them are handmade. ( Article about them https://nordiskaknivar.wordpress.com/2013/10/13/h-roselli/ )

I believe Tops makes a knife called the Scandi Trekker that could replace your Mora. I have a Tops Mini Scandi Knife(MSK) that is really well made. The quality is definitely there and it's a great knife to bring into the woods if you're not looking to carry a behemoth along with you. The Trekker is a bit bigger(if my memory is to be trusted), so it'd be more in line with your Mora.

The MSK comes with a neck sheath, while the Trekker has a belt sheath, leather too. Their 1095 steel is done really well so I bet it'd compete with 12c27, though it may not beat it in edge retention. They aren't exactly cheap either, but like I said the quality is there.

This is my MSK -

Nice choice. Cool USA made knife.

Alright. The cold steel is a folder (I was looking for a fixed blade), the tops are waaay out of my budget and I'm afraid I'd brake a rat tail tang puukko, because I sometimes baton (mainly to remove big chunks when carving). Looks like I'm going with the real steel.

They make a fixed blade version of the Finn Wolf as well.
Do a search and you'll find it.
