So I really like the 15, 16 and 17 model Becker knives and I really want to add them to my collection, but at $70 a pop they're not something I can invest in getting all three at once. So I'm asking advice on which one to get.

The 15 looks like a scaled down model of the BK5 and is easily the largest. The 16 and 17 are identical except for being a clip point and a spear point. But then again everybody who's a Beckerhead knows that.

Of the three which is best in terms of design for all around general purpose everyday use?

16 or 17. Does your daily use involve more poking of things or more batoning of things? If poking, go 17, if you want to beat on it, go 16.

All around use is why I got the 16 first.

I think the 5 and it's little brother are on my list now for the new kitchen I will be setting up shortly.

I have the 15 and its AWESOME... It slices, it dices.....with a thinned down edge to about 15 degrees. I don't beat on it too bad.
The 16 is on the short list (can't decide between it and the 10)

Either of the three are good choices. I chose the 16 first and my daughter loved it so much she claimed it has her own. But, I'll end up getting all three, however, the 15 will be the last of the tweeners for me. It'll go like this: 17, 16, 15.

If that helps...

I just bought a bk16 and I love it. Perfect for what I do.

When I had the same decision to make, I went with the 15- mostly because I have a number of woods knives in drop point and wanted something different. It has been a great blade and does everything I want well. Zero regrets here.
