Looking to add a "final" knife to my collection (I have 30). I have a variety of mid-priced survival/bushcraft knives, including:

Ka-Bar Turok (1095 CroVan)
Ka-Bar Becker BK2 (1095 CroVan)
Ontario Rat-7 (1095)
Ontario SP-2(1095)
Cold Steel SRK (CPM-3V)
Cold Steel SRK-C (SK-5)
Cold Steel SRK-C (CPM-3V)
Cold Steel Republic (CPM-S35VN)
Cold Steel Recon Tanto (SK-5)
Cold Steel Master Hunter (CPM-3V)
Varusteleka Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140
SwissTech Stahlern (AUS-8)
Gerber Strongarm (420HC)
SOG Pillar (CPM-S35VN)
Morakniv Garberg (14C28N)
Glock Feldmesser 81 (1095)
Buck 119 (420HC)
Demko Armiger 4 (80CrV2)
BPS Adventurer (1066)

I am trying to decide between adding a Ka-Bar Becker BK-7 and an ESEE-6P. I would love to hear from owners of each (or both) which they believe is the better knife (and why). Thanks in advance!
PS - I need to keep it in the $100-$150 price range!!!

I love Beckers... But I think I'd rather have a 9 before a 7

Also, for the ESEE 6, I'd want a modified handle version... That is really a great knife. Almost perfect.

*Sorry to add any more to the confusion. :D

I'll just say, I'll like the size and weight of the Esee 6 and 6HM that I designed my own in that size more suiting my needs (more campy, less lost in the woods by chance). I really like the 6HM and have been waiting for them to come out with a stainless one as I don't like coated blades much and 1095 is just meh. It works, but so do many other things, better. And I get to be picky because I have lots.

There would certainly be some crossover with the SRK and Esee 6, albeit the handles are completely different character. Similar intended use, IMO.

The big Becker handle just doesn't work well for me on big knives. I know I'm in the minority there, but the BK9, BK4, BK7, and BK21 just didn't do me well. I love it on the BK2 and the TM Hunt knives that use it, or something very close (tradewater and yuma, didn't like it on the M18).

I'll throw a kink in this and suggest the new Dpx Hest 6 in magnacut. They are made by white river knives for Dpx based on the original Hest 6. It is on my short list.

You have some great using-type knives in your collection. I have some of them as well. I like my BK-7, but honestly you have knives that will cover what it can do….I vote for a larger knife better adapted for chopping/clearing. For a really reasonable price, a BK-9. For one of the best knives and values (imo) a Terava Skrama 240 or 200.

If you can afford to spend more, big choppers from Crag, Siegle, David Mary, or CPK would be sweet. Volunteer Knife Co makes some fantastic knives and are simply great to deal with- the model 12 has become one of my absolute favorites.

Good luck with your search!

At $385, it falls into the: "someone would have to gift it" category. I need to keep it under $150! Also, I'm not a fan of individually carved finger slots...
