Hey guys,

This is my first time posting on this forum and I have a pretty important question. I have been doing a lot of research lately on which EDC knife would be right for me. I have made a pretty good sized list of the ones I want to consider but I cannot make up my mind. I would really like appreciate as much input as possible.

- SOG flash I or II
- Kershaw Leek
- Benchmade mini griptilian
- Syderco Delica 4

I don't want to spend over 75 bucks on the knife (unless there is a certain blade that I MUST get...) and I also don't want it to be too large. I want to be able to carry it every day without it getting in the way, but I also need it to perform well when needed.

Feel free to recommend any of your favorite knifes as well.

Thanks guys.

Those are all great knives, but we do traditional slip joints and fixed blades on this subforum.

I have the kershaw leek and I must say I am impressed with it especially considering its price. The 14C28N has descent edge retention and is easy to sharpen. It fits the hand well, the blade has zero play, and the coating on the blade is holding up better than expected. It comes out of the box nice and sharp too. I love having the fine tip for picking out metal/wood slivers I get from time to time at work. Kershaw's assisted opening technology is among the finest. Its super smooth and has descent kick. I picked mine up at walmart for 39.00 bucks, and that includes Kershaw's lifetime warranty. Thats high value if you ask me.

Hope that helps!

Maybe a mod could delete this thread for me. I reposted it under the correct subforum. Sorry about that

It's all good. Blues will move it ASAP. I do suggest you begin with a slip joint. Why not give it a try.

Well I have actually been collecting slip joints my whole life however I like having a knife with a strong locking mechanism for more heavy duty work.

You will like the Leek (my favorite Kershaw) and probably like the mini-Grip as well (I'm a Benchmade fan). I'm not personally familiar with the SOG. The Delica 4 is a nice Spyderco, but I have just not been able to bond with them myself. - Ed

Try a Northwoods Stockman, we had one for a Forum knife back in "09 and it's been an EDC since.

In before the move.:)

Well then any of the four will do you. My rankings of the ones you listed are as follows.

Delica - The only one hand opener I have left.
Griptilian - A fine knife available in a few steels with a great lock really liked it.
Leek - Kershay is top notch but a real pointy blade. I like the modified blade better than the regular
SOG - Good knife just didn't care for the handle at all.
