Choosing next knife....

I'm trying to decide what to get next. Price is a consideration because I may not be able to talk my parents into letting me spend much over $100. My choices right now are:
1) BM 735 Ares.
2) BM Mini AFCK
3) MT Mini SOCOM Elite

Which would be probably the best, generally?

Check out the kershaw/onion boa. I can't quit playing with mine. And even though the multi-colored handle looks goofy at first, it sort of grows on you. Plus it makes the knife much more acceptable to the sheeple who might spy it. But, if you're really stuck on those choices, I'd go with the MT.

How about the Buck 885 Taclite? Good knife.Buck forumites asked for a pocket clip, ats34, g10 handles, and Bos heat treat.ALL are in the 885 at an affordable price.

Personally, I would choose the 735 because of tip-up carry, Axis lock, and best blade of the three, IMO, though I also like the mini-Socom and mini-AFCK (even though they have the clip mounted on the "wrong" end

).

Just for the record, there is no such thing as a Mini SOCOM Elite.

On that note, I would go with a Mini SOCOM.

Why the Mini afck? What is your hand size? Mine are 4 in from wrist to middle finger and the lrg AFCK's are perfect!

You can get a TSEK/AFCK for a good price

I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.

The BM 735 is a beauty. Mine has the plain edge, BT coated. I also have the earlier version(730S). The 735 was even better finished, with near mirror-polished liners and a very silky operation.

As the previous poster said, there is no mini-Socom Elite. The Socom Elite is the full-sized model ( and a VERY fine full-sized folder).

Of the ones you mentioned, get the Ares. Otherwise, get another BM with the Axis lock. It's in a whole different league.

I can't believe this! The most critical of all post is missing from this thread! I think some of us are too tired or going soft or something.

Well, I'll just have to do the honors:
What is the basic purpose for which you're buying this knife? (Sorry, but good grammar occasionally inserts itself here.)
What will be its primary use?
Will it be a using knife?
Will it be primarily for self-defense?
Have you been to a B&M to check out any of these knives you've listed, or any other potential candidates?

Sorry, but until we know the answers to these questions, we simply can't make any effective recommendations, Asha'man.

We can, however, recommend a horde of other knives for you to consider, regardless of price or your stated limits thereto:
How about a Sebenza? They're the top knife out there!
How about a Spyderco Wegner? It is far better a tactical knife than you'd guess. Forget about the fact it is primarily advertised as a hunting knife.
Have you thought about the Spyderco Military/Viele/Starmate/et al?
It might be good to check out Katz knives.
You shouldn't consider buying a knife in this price range without considering the REKAT Carnivore Cub or the Pioneer II.
I strongly recommend the Microtech LCC!

Blah blah blah.

Okay. It's done now. Go ahead and make your choice. The formalities have been observed.
