I had a hobby once, that I truly enjoyed, until one day I got fed up with it. It was ruined for me and I thought to myself, hobbies are supposed to be fun.

I took a look at how some aspects of the "knife world" cause me to lose interest, so I made the decision today that I'm going to focus on the posts and people that make the knife world a fun place to be.

I have heard it positioned that we all have a moral obligation to be happy. If we are morose, sad, grumpy, or apathetic, we bring upon a burden on those we touch. If we have a bright sunny nature about us, we can lift up others. Good for you. Dennis Prager discusses happiness for one hour on his radio show every Friday morning, I always try to catch it.

So many people try to achieve happiness, from material objects. They acquire something, they've longed for and they're happy for a short period of time. Then that wears off and they are seeking the next purchase to make them complete. Never realizing that true happiness comes from within and it's not something that can be bought.

Happiness depends on happenings (favourable circumstances), which are fleeting but enjoyable. Joy is a deeper experience that can be experienced regardless of outward cicumstances.(not so easy).

Yes, and when it comes to this hobby, avoiding the crap makes it enjoyable. :D

Life is 100% the choices we make. It is about being aware of the choices we make and taking responsibility for them.

I agree 100%. Over the years, I've seen so many of our friends, family and co-workers just get totally ground down by life, and what was supposed to make them happy. Instead of just enjoying the simple things in life, it seemed like people had to make things way more complicated just to keep up with everyone else. For me, quality over quantity is most important.

Oh yeah? Well, you need to mail me all those Spydercos you have so you can find true happiness within. :D And then I'll be really happy too. :D

I had the same idea recently, when I realized how totally uninspired I was in dealing with some of the forums. We have other moderators; I am not pounding my head against those walls anymore.
