Big title...little chop off! ;)

Here we have one I think Pit will love- 'cause it's a thin 6" small chopper and my Camp Tramp. I've always been interested in Dave Farmers work and lucked into two. This chopper is too cool...on to the pics! Check these two out-

After 15 wacks...pretty equal

Man...this stuff was HARD!!! Res c helped for comfort...but...they are on par!

After a bunch of green stuff...a tie still!

I wonder if the ability to grip to the rear helped a lot?

Same pic I know, but see those stakes? I thought "I'll try some fine work for a goof- the CT shines here." You know what? The little Farmer did better!!!

I am amazed! This small light chopper does the job! Got my CT a bit worried!

Not much I know...something to look at!

Great review.

Those Farmer knives look like they perform pretty well. I predict this will be the next big thing in knives. Lighter, thinner chopping knives that can also do basic utilitarian camp chores or bushcraft chores. The Farmers excel at this, as does the excellent Fiddleback 12" machete. It's becoming my favorite all around backpacking blade.

What type of steel is the Farmer made of? I have never heard of these knives but am intrigued. What is their price range compared to the camp tramp/sykco 711?

I believe David usually uses L6, 1095 or 01. He has a website (just google his name, David Farmer,...I feel weird posting it in another producer's forum). His prices are very, very reasonable, and he frequently posts pieces in the Exchange.

I would love to see something like this from the Swamp..or even better the Yard. I knife like this with res-c? I'd be in heaven!

RPN - awesome review! that handle on the farmer doesnt look very comfortable, how is it?

if that farmer had a resc or horse stall mat handle I would be all over it

I like the handle on the farmer. Has a nice shape and...a lot of texture I could say. The only time the Camp Tramp outshined it was with the thicker log. That thing is seasoned and crazy hard.

It is 1/8" thick. Glad you guys liked the pics and all. Great small chopper and of course, just having a few minutes out of work, out of the house is nice nice nice!
