I was reminded of something I witnesed at work yesterday that I thought I would pass along.
I know there are a lot of new folks to metalworking out there and there buying new equipment all the time so here is a safety tip
Do not use that Chop Saw to cut your aluminum and brass, It will cause the wheel to explode and it won't be pretty. The fellow I caught using the saw just avoided a possible injury, only a few chunks of the blade sre missing snd they all missed him.

Heck yea I invented it ...What is it???
I only do what the voices in my wifes head tell me to do.
It's kinda like hangin, you never get used to it.

Jonesy;

While I admire your work as a humanitarian (saving the mentally handicapped from themselves) you are defying the laws of Genetics!

Each and every time a bonehead (potential Darwin Award winner) survives a brush with the Grim Reaper, he develops a sense of superiority that can only cause damage to others less fortunate (to be around him/her).

Let nature take its' course and eliminate the more dimly lit...in that way we can all live a longer and brighter life!!

Good point about the brass and aluminum...have seen incredible displays of terminal velocities when chop saws are mistreated.

The wheel loads up with material and causes it to hang up and bounce causing a violent reaction. A comeapart condition
The difference is ferrous and non ferrous metals and choosing the right tool to cut it.
This is true of aluminum,brass and copper for the chop saw, don't do it trust me. You may get lucky a couple of times but it really isn't worth the risk.
Ferrous metals=iron,steel
Nonferrous= aluminum,brass,copper
If you have used a rotory file in a drill or something gringing aluminum you will notice how it loads up on the burr, same with most chop saw blades.
