Chopped down a tree with my M forty three

I had a 9 inch diameter Bradford Pear tree that needed to be brought down, and I figured I'd see if my new M43 would do the job. Of course it did. Whie an axe would have been more efficient, and a saw super efficient, the M43 worked just fine. My arm is a bit weary, however if I was in need of one tool in a wilderness situation (which is what I use Khukuris for) I am well set to fell trees of substance.

The M43 handle is a little large for my taste, but the blade is perfect sized. I did discover why it is important to have a properly sized handle, since I had a few deflected hits that would have been ugly had I not been in control of the overall blow in general.

The blade is now in need of sharpening, but I am satisfied that the M43 is a versatile tool.

sounds pretty sweet, i love to chop!
but you should have messaged me to come take it from you. any more fruit trees need down. give a message and ill try to get.

Bradford pears are ornamental trees, I've never heard of anyone producing or eating fruit from one

Good to see that both you and your M43 got a workout yak23flora. And it couldn't have happened to a nicer tree. The Bradford Pear is indeed only for ornamental purposes and has been over utilized in both residential and commercial settings. The fewer the better as far as I'm concerned.

Issun, I have seen smaller than crab apple fruits on some Bradfords but I'm sure its nothing you, or probably even a bird, can eat.

Yep, this is an ornamental pear tree, I had three of them and as they have grown over the last 20 years they blocked out light to my garden and have been generally a pain. I reduced the trio by one third, so I still have two, am moving my garden, and now have plenty of firewood for next year's backyard campfires with my family, and plenty of wood to test my Khukuris on.

If you cna;t charpen it yourself, contac member here "richardJ" he has a knife sharpening service, is extremely reasonable [dare I say cheap in price but not quality?] and can make your khukri a razor or restore teh factory covex edge - whichever you prefer. He's a Good man.
