This may be a strange question, but has anyone ever shorten a CS OSS or Black Bear Classic?
I picked up an OSS knife a while ago and while I do like it I have some issues. It is a little too long to be lively, if that makes any sense. I dunno if that makes sense to me either. I would like to see it at least an inch and a half shorter.
If I'm nuts just let me know.

It makes sense, depending on where you like your balance point to be. Give it a shot. If you take too much off, you might be able to lighten the handle to make up for it. Good Luck.

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. My bad.

Now that I am in the right location I'll give this a little bump.
Has anyone shortened a OSS or Black Bear? Or had the desire to do so?
I have not handled the Black Bear much, I wonder if the balance is better with the different materials, especially the handle.

These are basically Loveless designs. He has some shorter bladed designs with the same clip point/dougle edge blade grind. Try the drawings section of www.engnath.com. Of course, you may already know all this. To answer your question, I dont suppose it would be too hard to shorten one, if you had some experience doing things like that. The Classic may balance better because of the solid handles of micarta, rather than the Kraton.
