Hey guys, this is my first thread so less hate if I do somthing wrong/nooby is appreciated. I want to share my project today with you guys which is a chopped down version of a Kershaw Chill. This is also my first production knife mod so any advice is also appreciated. I think it turned out well, but if you guys think otherwise i'd like to know to improve my work. I don't have any fancy crazy tools so i just did this with a Dremel, a 6/8 Inch bench grinder, and some sandpaper. So with that out of the way here it is.

I only have a few WIP photos of the process because i tend to get absorbed in my work and forget to take pictures but here is what I have. First I had to clamp down the two liners and scales to together and cut off the bottom part with a dremel so i get this.

After that i cut off the backspacer to roughly the same length

Then I clamp the knife so I can smooth out the back and slightly round the corners with some sandpaper

After that I go to flatten the top of the handle. This is also how I flattened the bottom

All the handle pieces cut and shaped to size

Fast forward to after i've cut the top of the blade off because i forgot to take pictures before

After that i just rounded the corner of the blade that sticks out the handle and knocked the harsh edges off with some sandpaper and done.

For anybody interested in the flipping action, it actually flips out faster now and feels more snappy, although it isn't a world of difference, it's still there.

Blade length is 2.5" and overall length is 5.25" I actually can't make it a razel grind because a little bit of the corner of the blade sticks out when it is closed.

@caseguy To cut the blade I just used a Dremel with a cutoff wheel. I actually did all the rough cutting with the dremel, did the shaping on an 8" wet wheel bench grinder, and finishing with 60 grit then 100 grit sandpaper.

Nice clean work IMO.;):D

Whenever I see a squared off point (aka Razel) I want to see it morphed into something like this:

Awesome Paint skills at work...

Neato.
Fyi, using the side of the grinding wheel is a big no-no, you can thin the inner areas and cause the wheel to explode.

Yeah I try not to use the side of the wheel, but when you don't have a way of flat grinding things, it gets awfully tempting to.

I like it. Its missing something though. If it were me, id grind a big finger choil betwren the flipper and the edge. Not only would it look.pretty cool, it will add versatility and make sharpening a lot easier

Locking straight razor FTW!

If you round or angle that top corner of the blade so that it doesn't stick above the handle when closed you could chisel grind the front of the blade.

Raising an old thread, buddy shared this on Facebook, wife loved it, DAMN COOL!! how is it holding up?
