Those of you who like taking large chopper type blades on your wilderness adventures might find the new chopper from TOPS interesting.

IMO opinion TOPS designs are often a little hit and miss, some very questionable and some awesome. From the initial pic it looks like this one should be a great workhorse.
I think our fellow mod Joezilla has connections working at TOPS, lets hope he manages to grab one and do a test for us !;)

Now that looks like good times. Gosh, if only they made it with a 4" blade. :(

Now that may be a Tops that would interest me, and those are few and far between. It will depend on what kind of price tag that they hang on it.

well it sure is a beauty.of course heattreat is paramount. my budget wont allow the toy right right now just spent 520$ on vet bill.hopefully a member will buy & give a test report.

That looks pretty cool. I bet I wont like the price, but it looks awesome

I like the design although I would rather see it at 1/8" thick. More of a machete.

From looking at the pics, it appears the handles are riveted or pinned on, with screws holding the middle together.
What in the heck??

I gotta wait to see what the price is, It would have to be priced very close to the RD-9 which uses the same steel and has excellent QC.

Cool design, but the huge super duper gee whiz graphic on the blade really annoys me.

Too much of a point to be a chopper. At a 1/4" thick it's no machete substitute either, the handle looks rough enough to give your hand some blisters after little use. Add that to a probable cost of $300+ and I find it less than appealing.
Sorry Pitdog, but I'm not much impressed with it.

I love a spear point on a smaller knife, but I'm mixed on that one. I guess I just prefer a straight back or a slight drop at the tip. I think the drop is too long on that one and I don't like how the blade thins out at the handle. The same design on a small knife works well because you use the belly. I don't get what a belly does for you on a knife as large as that. The handle looks like it has good ergos. I don't really get why pins and screws as somebody already mentioned. I think 1/4" is too thick also. I'd prefer in 3/16", or be original and somebody do a large chopper in 5/32"!

I like it but with the Junglas I'm all set. It's probably gonna be spendy too.
