Interest Thread - Chopper For The People!!! Lets design a knife! Please read and post what you think.

starter idea - 15" Chopper in (maybe) 3/16" 80CRV2???

10" Blade with tall flat grind? Huge 2" wide blade with nice thin geometry and tough convex or flat microbevel? Bolted on removable scales with survival kit or maybe flared tube bulletproof construction?

Good choppers are hard to find, how about an all USA made Camp Chopper in mega tough 80CRV2 steel! What we would do is I design it along with your input and we make the best chopper ever. I would take a deposit after the design is finalized and if we can get 100 people (or close) in with $100 down we will make it happen together. It would sell at a discount to the initial investors (maybe $350-400?) then go up to $450-500 after that depending on options. This would be a mid tech project with your input!

I don't need any investors or inspiration but I do want to have a community involved... we need to bring that back! I have a really incredible new shop in the works, over 1000 knives profiled and nearly ready for heat treat. I just think it would be cool to do something completely different and WANT YOUR INPUT! What do you guys think?

I’ve got more choppers than I can use, so I can’t be of any use since I have no need. But I’m interested to see what you come up with!

I'm going to revisit this more as I get knives going. I think once I get a few runs out that are started there will be enough interest to make this happen.

I still have mine, but the chisel grind makes it hard to use left-handed sometimes.
I haven't made a chisel ground chopper in a long time, they are really cool but have advantages and disadvantages... more flexibility with a double ground larger chopper. I think a chisel can be more aggressive with the dominant hand/grind together and quite the opposite if switched up.
