Its been raining in Commiefornia and I can't get a good pic outside so I took this inside in bad lighting. Left to right:
Bark river Mini-Axe, 10.5", 9 oz.
Sgt Karka? Spcl, 13.5", 15.6 oz
Gransfors Bruks Mini-Hatchet, 10.5", 12.4 oz
M43, 17", 30 oz.
Gransfors Bruks Wildlife Hatchet, 14", 23 oz
Tin Chirra, 18.5", 32.4 oz
Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe, 19.5", 33.7 oz
Ganga Ram Special, 21.5", 35.7 oz - this is light for its size

I've found a lot of value in large blades 'light for their size" I'd look at the edge profile and see If I couldn't improve it if I were you.
It should be able to strike hard and deep with little effort, and pull out too without being stuck.

I be if you timed a cut between it and one heavy for size you might be surprised at the outcome. The lighter one is faster to use. That isn't to say a heavier model doesn't have atributes of its own. I'm still exploring the possibilities with my own khuks.

Nice collection hdwrlover.:D Have you made any comparisons with them in chopping?
I would find that very interesting!

Very nice. Have you been able to compare how the Tin Chirra chops compared to the Ganga Ram? I am somewhat suprised at the weight of the Tin Chirra given the number of fullers. Now I want one even more. Thanks for the pic,

Yea, I'm now a Lighthouse. I can guarantee you that being a Lighthouse is much, much, better than being an Outhouse.:D

You shouldn't be far behind as you've been really nice for a few days now.
How close are you too 450 points?
I keep running out of points too give everyone.:grumpy: :(

Back too the topic....:D
I'm wondering about that Tin Chiarra as well. I may need one a dem/doz.:D :p
It is sure enough a beautiful khuk!!!!

hdwrlover,
That is a nice comparitive study of ax/hatchet to khukuri! It is interesting to see hatchet/khukuri side by side. There is a heck of a lot more cutting surface on a khuks edge, that's for sure! I too would love to hear how the tin chirra handles choping wood. I have had a hard time not jumping on one of those when they come up.
