awhile ago there was talk about someone a long time ago took a video or pics of them chopping a kabar in half with a busse. is there still any vids or pics from this? I ask because there is a guy I know claiming kabars to be better than busses and other top tier knives and want to set him straight. thanks hogs.

After seeing people dismantle chains, car hoods, and other extremely tough stuff, I'm sure if there isn't one someone can make one.

It wont be me though, just saying.

man , forget it , though busse knives are well designed and well made ,but they still made of steel , just a knife , do not put so many hypothesis on a knife , just a tool.

if with the same tickness of stock and same angle on the edge, do you belive a busse can cut a KABAR knife in half ?
maybe it can do that , but what a wound on the busse ?

i like infi more than other carbon steels , even considering the price or Performance.

if you wanta get some proofs of how tough and sharp of a busse knife , you can digging some old threads here , and visit WWW.KNIFETESTS.COM , you and your friends will satisfied with smile.:D

I find it amusing that this person has decided to compare a production knife brand to Busse knives and he picks toward the bottom end of the spectrum. It sounds like he needs to collect and use alot more knives(low quality, top quality and everything else in between) so that he may educate and dissappoint himself or.........he can continue to worship the Ka Bar which will keep him happy. Ignorance is bliss. If he continues to argue with you with persistance, maybe you could consider getting a KaBar if you don't already have one and just tell him that he's right and now after much evaluation, the Ka Bar is your favorite knife also and it is better than anything else. He will consider you a very good friend from then on-- Next time you need a favor from him, you can remind him of the greatness you have discovered in the Ka Bar. Just my perspective.

Remember the bulletsplit?

I can’t get the video to come up, maybe David could repost….Please Dave!!... This is truly one of the coolest things I have ever seen… and when it went up I showed it to everybody..

That's cool and all, but there are plenty of knives that can split bullets. SOG's old Tigershark was on their brochures for years with a bullet being split by it. There was a Ranger Knives camp out last year where an Ontario Ranger knife was shot a couple times on the edge with no damage. The flat of the blade was also shot, causing a dent, but no breakage. I got this knife in a pass around and it was just fine, aside from the dent.

My point with all this is, I think the bullet splitting is a big show. With regards to the original question, if your friend's Ka-Bar works for him and accomplishes every task he sets before it, don't worry about Busses splitting Ka-Bars.

Send him toward knifetests.com and tell him to watch the destruction tests for the skinny ash, FFBM, and the scrapyard knives.

Then watch the Kbar destruction videos (pretty sure he has broken one for a test).

Chopping another knife in half with a "better" knife does not really prove anything.

If a knife can be used as a step up when hammered into a tree, you know they are tough (or at least thick). This is a test that is not abusive to a knife that can do it, but will easily destroy knives that can't.
And this is not to say that Ka-bar knives are bad, they just aren't made with certain tasks in mind.

Oh man, that's funny. :D I love social experiments.

Ask your friend what he's worried about, it sounds like he's afraid the knives are going to try to eat each other. Tell him not to worry, he just needs to keep them in separate drawers.

Even if you can prove that a Busse is superior in every aspect, you will never be able to convince him. Now that he's taken a stance, he has risked losing face twice. The first was his expression that his brand is better, then after standing behind it, it turns more into a belief.

And we all know how beliefs go...

I watched a video the other day of a guy hammering an esee through one type of knife or another. When you bang sharpened pieces of steel together, its more of a "this one took less damage than that one". You're not exactly going to cut through like Luke Skywalker with a lightsaber... not with the puny forces a human can produce. Think about hydraulic sheers, the steel is important, but its the thousands of pounds of pressure behind it that really matter.

Who's knife can cut through who's is kinda like asking who's car could drive through who's.

Edit: That knife test site is awesome, I'm glad its raining outside, I'll be there for a while...
