went out for a hike, but also to find and remove a tree... i was HOPING it was down, chopping a weird tree can be scary, and but was HOPING it was up too
so. with my trusty HI GRS... off we go..
here's my bad boy, i decided to keep it horizontal for now:
chopping away. this is nearly one of my oldest best khuks, a nice 29 ounce 18 inch GRS. handle WAS flawless and good. i apparently cracked it GOOD. wicking some superglue into it tonite. bah. bound to happen. i've also put a super sweet and tough edge on this guy. this is verymuch MY knife.
here be some chopping profile: sweet!
done!
sweet wood:
down. note the purple short rope. i set up a trucker's hitch with an alpine butterly loop to tension the tree the way i want it to go. it's not designed to PULL the tree, but encourage. once the chopping is done, a good solid smooth pull DOWN on the rope is enough to set the action, then RUN to safety. DROP.
the birch polypore, aka tinder fungus, aka "woo hoo", lots of people covet these. i got a few this time around.
thanx!
