I recently read that Barker knives maker and his knife recently won for an unprecedented 3rd time the Chopping/cutting contest in Atlanta, with his Bowie style blade.

I'd like to duplicat the hanging rope cut (three in one chop is the record).

The cutting of filled drinking water bottles(7 MAY be the record here, correct me if I'm wrong).

And finally the Williams Tell cut, where an apple is placed on top of a soda can and the goal is to cut it in half w/o making the can fall over.

The questions are two: Is the can of soda full or empty? Secondly, are there any other tests of cutting/chopping in this contest?

I don't know of this contest... but your best bet may be just to contact Mike. He's a real nice guy and will help you out with any info that he can.

Also, it's William Tell, not Williams.... like the William Tell Overture. It's a classical piece by Rossini.

Peace.

I know one of the competitions involves cutting free hanging toilet paper, no joke, try that with your knife, I don't own a knife that can pass that test.

At the Blade Show, the can was full of water.

There are countless other crazy tests....most of them are just for fun. The test that counts is a dry-run of what you intend to use your knife for.

If you're asking specifically about the Blade Show cutting competition...the 2x4 chop and the hanging rope cut are the standard. They also usually have water bottles (filled) in some rendition and soda cans (filled and unfilled) as well.

After that, anything goes. As evidenced by the "mouse catch" event this year. How can you prepare for that?

Thanks so much for the additional info. I forgot about the mouse chop. I'll try the 2x4 also. I have a feeling that my large khuk may not do as well as my lightet bowie style.
