It's raining here (tail of Ida maybe)... We got out to do a little shooting with the boys and and a little chopping. I took out the David Farmer Parang that I just got. She sure can chop:

Very cool Mneedham. I can almost feel myself swinging that thing, and of course the thud of impact as I look at the pic with you showing me the sweet spot like that!

That's a beauty:thumbup:
Glad you got some outside time, finally mild at our end of the stste.

:)

man thats pure awesomeness!!! thanks for the spine handle shot...looks like ithas a nice swell! i wish my golok had a handle like that. :)

Great. Now I need to find a way to get the drool out of my keyboard. :p

Looks ****ing AWESOME.

I'm curious about that blade design..........i'm used to khukuris, which are bent the other way.........how does that parang compare? ie, with the mega upswept bend, does the blade hit the wood later than a khukuri would, and is there a difference in cutting depth as a result?

beautiful blade btw!

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice here, just in time for my Scout Hike:thumbup:

That thing is just sweet. Nice pics.

Yep, David makes a great blade. I'm addicted to Farmer and Koyote blades at the moment.....

The handles and balance are really special...

42B - You need a Farmer big blade... If you already have one, you need another. I keep buying them and thinking that I am done, but they just keep getting better.

The blade is very light for it's length (21.5"), it feels like a machete. I was actually concerned that it would be awkward to chop with given the dog leg, but I wasn't gonna pass up on a hand-forged Farmer. In any case, it took me a couple of swings to adjust to the sweet spot when chopping on the hardwood, but it feels very natural to cut with... It is hard to compare to the feel of khuk, which are much heavier and thicker. Simply put, it feels awesome in the hand!

that thing makes my bark river golok look like a butter knife! :D

nice pics as always mate, you've got golok fever :)

the only thing to do is keep feeding the habit, otherwise you'll get antsy if you dont have a new golok or parang to play with :D
