An ornamental eucalyptus shed a BIG branch in the back yard thanks to the storms here out west. From leaves to a 6" main limb.
I attacked it with various "chopping" implements.
Neither the Ontario Survival Machete or the HI 18" Ang Kola did very well. The blades are just too thick - no penetration.
I expected the Woodsman's Pal to do better than it did. After all, I used one in the summer's work that created a mountain of firewod and earned me my second bicycle so many years ago.
Instead, the AG Russell Axe was by far the best in reducing the 1"-3" parts of that thing to fireplace size pieces. The only one I could bury in the wood deep enough to have it stick. This is the one I'll carry on camping excursions. But, really, there's no substitute for a good saw.
Now, if Russell will only improve the eel-slippery grip material...
