Had a tree limb that was starting to rot out in the middle, so I took it down this afternoon. Decided to make a little firewood for camping since most of the limb was sound. Here are some pics of the fun...

NICE PARTY!!

But oK - Analysis!!

Which did you prefer, felt best, chopped deepest... and which one will you sell me when I say... "I WILL TAKE IT!!" ??

As choppers, I'd rate 'em as follows:

1. FBMLE
2. SHBM
3. FBMCG and MOASH (tie and not far behind the SHBM)
5. BM-E

Wish I had a Proto to try out, but I do have high hopes for the Heavy Mistresses.

Mass and balance are key. I think the heavier, more weight-forward blade is going to win the day as a chopper. The various knives weigh: MOASH (26 oz.), SHBM (21 oz.), FBMCG (25 oz.), FBMLE (29 oz.), and BM-E (20 oz.). Of course, edge geometry and sharpness come into play, and all five of these knives were different in both regards.

 Cool pix! Looks like ya had FUN.:thumbup: :D Love the LINEUP! :D:D:D Thanks for bringin' the camera along!

Nice group of BMs. I would hope the FBMLE would be the best performer....thanks for the relative eval.

The LE is a freakin' monster chopper and, as you can see, a pretty good splitter too if you have a hefty baton.

The SHBM just seems to have the best bite of any of my BMs, but I think much of that has to do with edge geometry. I'm a fan of the assymmetrical edge and find that the Basic 9 also has a nice "bite".

The MOASH, because of its heft (2nd heaviest) and width (.345), packs an awful lot of chopping power into a smaller package (lengthwise).

The BM-E didn't do quite as well on this relatively dense, wet wood, but some of that has to do with the edge, which I haven't touched since I got the knife.

Hope I can land a Proto to continue to compare/contrast. I've got a trade inquiry going right now for one.

Skunk is also coming with some interesting Mistresses, if the grapevine doesn't mislead.

Awesome pics! I'm sure you had a great time testing those beauty's

Awesome lumberjack crew bro. I know it's not a Busse but how does the Dog Father compare with the above in your opinion?
